Our volunteer research program in Florence focuses on Italian holdings and artists. It takes on two volunteers three times per year. Research Volunteers agree to a 15-hour-week time commitment, when applying for the project. Each Research Volunteer is paired with a Mentor, who is either an AWA staff member or a volunteer professional in the arts sector, based in Florence. Mentors will provide Research Volunteers with project assignments and guidance, and follow the progress and success of their endeavors. This project is akin to an ‘independent study’ but Mentors and Research Volunteers are required to meet twice a month. If desired, Research Volunteers can sign up to do on-line research at the AWA office one day per week.
