Inaugurating ‘The Greatness of the Universe in the art of Giovanna Garzoni’ on May 28
We are happy to announce the inauguration of the exhibition “The Greatness of the Universe in the Art of Giovanna Garzoni”. Open to the public from May 28 to June 28, this show is part of the Uffizi Galleries’ far-reaching efforts in recent years to uphold the achievements of historic women artists. Curated by Sheila Barker and created in collaboration with the Medici Archive Project, it spotlights Garzoni’s watercolors and miniatures, as she captured the charm of the familiar and the exotic, exemplifying the ‘new’ trend of combining creative harmony with the exactitude of science. This 90-piece show also comprises works by Garzoni’s contemporaries. Advancing Women Artists has supported the exhibition catalog in English.
