“The Archive and the Eye”

What new Artemisia attributions have been drawing international attention? Top scholars from around the world met in Florence in May 2015 where they debated new discoveries surrounding the life and works of artist Artemisia Gentileschi.  The meeting was the third annual Jane Fortune Conference entitled Artemisia Gentileschi: Interpreting New Evidence, Assessing New Attributions. It was organized by the Medici Archive Project and hosted by the Pitti Palace’s Palatine Gallery and the British Institute in Florence. World-famous scholar Mary D. Garrard, Professior Emerita at the American University in Washington DC, presented the keynote address: Identifying Artemisia: The Archive and the Eye.
