An interview with conservator Elizabeth Wicks, in her Florence studio
A unique opportunity to visit a Florence atelier from afar. On November 13, 2020, tune in for the second event of our ‘Restoration Conversations’ program: ‘Art rescue in progress’, an interview with conservator Elisabeth Wicks, in her Florence studio. Participants will enjoy close-up views of artist Violante Ferroni’s two eighteenth-century paintings, from AWA’s current conservation project, The Art of Healing*. These two large-scale ovals depicting miracles of Saint John of God are in different phases of repair and will be the focus of this close-up conversation, in which Elizabeth discusses what it takes to ‘heal’ these canvases, whilst reconstructing the oeuvre of a forgotten, once-acclaimed woman artist. To join the event, tune in on-line, with Advancing Women Artists and The Florentine on Friday, 13 November 2020. Times: 6.30pm in Italy; 12.30pm EST; 9.30am PST; 5.30pm in the UK. Link forthcoming or access directly through TF and AWA’s Facebook and YouTube channels.
The Art of Healing is a collaborative project; learn more about the paintings and our partners, here.
