Move over Michelangelo… The Embassy of Italy in Washington DC and Italian Cultural Institute is spotlighting the work of Florence’s museums and Advancing Women Artists in our efforts to rediscover restore and exhibit art by Tuscany’s historic female painters and sculptors. At 4pm on June 4, art aficionados stateside are invited to attend a lecture by AWA conservator Elizabeth Wicks: “The Art of Healing: The Rediscovery of Historical Women Artists in Florence”. Expect news and views on Plautilla Nelli, Artemisia Gentileschi, Violante Siries Cerroti, Giovanna Garzoni and even our latest leading lady… Violante Ferroni.
