Nelli’s inspiration? Leonardo Da Vinci’s Last Supper

On May 27, AWA’s Partnership Relations coordinator Jane Adams has been invited to serve on the Brussels-based Jury for "Leonardo 4 Children", a competition on Art & Science, open to 13-18 year-olds across Europe. To celebrate the 500-year anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci’s death (1519-2019) and the 30-year anniversary of the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child, the foundation “Carano 4 Children” has launched this flagship non-profit initiative with a focus on art and science for children. “This year, AWA will be celebrating the inauguration of Plautilla Nelli’s Last Supper, which scholars believe was influenced by Leonardo’s masterwork in Milan,” explains Adams. “Nelli most likely saw a drawing or engraving, but the emotion of her Apostles emulates what he was trying to achieve. It is an honor for our organization to have been asked to participate in an event that fosters creativity in youngsters… we hope to see creative personalities of the future… perhaps some future ‘women artists’ as well!”
