Lolo Soldevilla’s fine example of geometric abstractionism. Following Palazzo Vecchio’s 1967 art show ‘I cubani’, over forty Cuban artists requested the City of Florence sell their exhibited pieces and use the funds to restore flood-damaged art. Soldevilla was among them. The Cuban artists’ intentions failed to reach fulfillment. After 50 years in storage, the work underwent maintenance treatments and was exhibited at Florence’s Twentieth-century Museum, at the show “Beyond Borders” (2016). It has since returned to storage. A main player in Cuba's 'Geometric Revolution' Soldevilla worked in various mediums including sculpture, bas-reliefs and paper—in addition to painting.
