Do not be surprised if the artists are new to you... that's exactly our point. The two main artists of our 2018 edition are Filide Giorgi Levasti and Leonetta Pieraccini Cecchi. Both painters lived locally, in and around Tuscany, and frequented painter Giovanni Costetti, with whom they shared many of the same influences. Pieraccini met her literary critic husband Emilio Cecchi at the Giorgi house, whilst Fillide went on to marry philosopher and mystic Arrigo Levasti. The majority of their works have a Cezanne-like feel and are in public and private collections in Florence and Rome. Other early twentieth-century artists scheduled for exhibition are: Marisa Mori, Flavia Arlotta, Adriana Pincherle, Vittoria Morelli, Elena Salvaneschi, Elisabeth Chaplin and more. We are slowly building each of these 'invisible' artist's biographies.
Five works by Leonetta Pieraccini Cecchi will be completed by September 2018 find their home at Florence's famed Gabinetto Vieusseux. This small collection, exhibited in the library's study halls is representative of the many mediums in which the artist worked.
