AWA’s restoration sparked new interest in art by women. Here’s how. Pitti’s Modern Art Gallery in Florence followed AWA’s lead! According to gallery executives, the GAM’s decision to restore a bust portraying Elisabeth Chaplin as a little girl is the direct result of increased interest in the artist prompted by AWA’s restoration of Chaplin’s The Three Sisters. Created by the artist’s mother Marguerite Bavier-Chaffour, this marble rendition of the 4-year-old Elisabeth can be seen in Pitti’s Chaplin Room (room 27) which hosts over 15 of Chaplin’s colorful Nabis works.
