2007 Nelli Awardee. Franca Falletti is former director of Florence’s Accademia Gallery. She has curated numerous exhibitions focused on showcasing cutting-edge contemporary art alongside masterpieces from the past, including a show called Robert Mapplethorpe: Perfection in Form (2009) and Arte Torna ad Arte (2012). The latter featured works of 32 top modern and contemporary artists, including Picasso, Klein, Duchamp, Savinio, Bacon, Warhol, Fabro, Ketty, La Rocca and De Dominicis, exhibited at the Accademia which is best known as the home of Michelangelo’s David. Dr. Fallietti directed AWA’s restoration project featuring Irene Duclos Parenti’s Copy of Andrea del Sarto’s Madonna del Sacco which was included as part of the exhibition Lorenzo Bartolini and his Contemporaries in 2011. Her publications include Michelangelo’s David: A Masterpiece after Restoration and Accademia Gallery: the Official Guide.
