2010 Nelli Awardee. Monica Bietti is Director of the Medici Chapels, Casa Martelli and the Ognissanti Last Supper Museum. Dr. Bietti began her career as the director of Modena’s Civic Museum. In 1983, she joined the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and, since 2000, has served as director of the Ognissanti Last Supper Museum in Florence and the Casa Martelli which re-opened in 2009 after a 10-year restoration. This sumptuous palace once belonged to the prestigious Martelli clan, art patrons to Bronzino, Caravaggio and Donatello. Dr. Bietti was also named Director of the Medici Chapel Museum in 2004. She has curated several important events and exhibitions, particularly those linked to the field of restoration. She has co-authored various publications including Discoveries of the Last Medici, Gian Gastone and The Renaissance in Florence, Masterpieces and Protagonists.
