2005 Nelli Awardee. Anna Maria Giusti is the Director of Opificio delle Pietre Dure Museum, having served there from the 1970s to the late 1990s and returning in 2012. As director she has curated various sectors including mosaic and semi-precious stone restoration, terracotta, bronze and ancient weaponry. Dr. Giusti co-founded the Opificio’s scientific journal in 1986 and directed innumerable key-note restorations including the marble statues of Orsanmichele, the mosaics for Florence’s Baptistery and the restoration of Lorenzo Ghiberti’s Gates of Paradise. In 2008, she began working as director of Palazzo Pitti’s Gallery of Modern Art. Over the course of her career, Dr. Giusti has published over 120 volumes, especially books focused on the Grand Ducal’s workshops at the Opificio in the eighteenth century.
