2012 Outstanding Conservator Awardee. During her four-decade career as an art conservator in Florence, Nicola Ann MacGregor has worked in some of Florence’s most prestigious venues: the Uffizi, the Pitti and the Accademia galleries, restoring various masterpieces by the likes of Gentile da Fabriano, Botticelli and Pollaiolo. Her talent and commitment came to the attention of Advancing Women Artists thanks to her work on Artemisia Gentileschi’s David and Bathsheba, which AWA restored in 2008, in collaboration with Florence’s Polo Museale. Her work on David and Bathsheba marked the first time in a 35-year career that she worked as a restorer on a work by a woman artist.
