2003 Nelli Awardee. Art historian and writer Cristina Acidini has worked in the Ministry of Cultural Heritage since 1982. She is the former Superintendent for Florence’s Historical, Artistic and Ethno-anthropological Heritage and the city’s Polo Museale, a post she held since 2006. From 2010 to 2012 she also directed the Superintendent’s Office of the Opificio delle Pietre Dure. Dr. Acidini has written two novels and numerous art books including Princesses and Ambassadors: The Diplomatic Faces of the Past; Ammanati and Vasari for the Medici City and Luciano Guarnieri. In addition to the Nelli Award, she has also been recognized with a Premio Salimbeni and the Firenze Donna award. Dr. Acidini is now president of the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno.
