Recently attributed to Nelli by US scholar Catherine Turrill, this large-scale work is thought to be one of two Annunciation paintings Giorgio Vasari cited as part of Nelli’s oeuvre in his sixteenth-century volume The Lives of Artists. Though this painting will return to storage upon restoration, AWA has decided to safeguard Nelli’s rendition of one of Florence’s best-love pictorial themes. This painting was displayed (restoration-in-progress) as part of Nelli’s first monographic exhibition at the Uffizi Gallery in March 2017 and is scheduled to appear in upcoming shows abroad. Details to be announced!

This project includes canvas and frame conservation treatments, diagnostic analysis, photographic documentation, creation of a video-short and pamphlet on the restoration. Based on their level of giving, contributors will receive certain ‘perks’ inspired by art by women in Florence. Contributions of $25+ entitle givers to periodic updates on the state of the project.
